The Daily Post’s challenge for this week is Horizon.
The Challenger defines horizon as: “The space or line where the sky meets the earth. So many places where the sky meets the earth around the world, and millions of interactions between two elements. It can be water, a city skyline, a forest, a wasteland, a desert, a sunset outside your bedroom window“.
The horizons in the following pictures particularly speak to me:
The horizon at the Tanjung Rhu beach in Langkawi where the blue sky meets the water, with a sandy beach in the foreground particularly attracts me.
Further up the hills in Langkawi, the view of the faraway islands fading out in the horizon conveys a sense of peace to me.
On our way from Gold Coast to Lake Barrine in northern Australia, the clouds just above the horizon where the blue sky meets the blue mountains appeal to me.
Resting on the shore of lake Galve in Lithuania, gazing at the blue water and where the yonder islands meet the sky was a delightful and reflective moment.
The skyline in the Baltics seems eternally has its charm.
The New York City skyline has always been my favorite. Not that I don’t like the skyline of other places like Hong Kong which has got high hills as the background; the New York City skyline allows you to have an unobstructed view of the buildings in the horizon.
Last, but not the least, I like the horizon I saw in Coronado beach in the US. The sea and the sky seemed to merge as one.
Horizons allow my eyes and my brain to relax and intrigue me as to what lies beyond. . . . . . . . . . .
Great distance shots!
As always, thanks for your encouraging comment 🙂
So beautiful Michael 🙂
Thank you, Lakshmi 🙂
Love the NYC shot. Beautiful!
This is the best NYC shot I have ever captured. Thank you 🙂
Some beautiful horizons. Thanks for sharing them with us.
Hi Colline, thanks for your nice comment 🙂
That was the most unorthodox skyline of NYC I’ve seen. It really works, though. Love that line of trees in the foreground. And who can not love the turquoise ocean waters meeting the sky in the distance (sigh… wish I was there).
I must admit that I am satisfied with this image I have captured; like you, I like the line of the tree, but also the colored pavement in the foreground. Regards, Michael
Hard to pick a fave….I think New York….all are fantastic!
The NYC picture is my favorite. Thank you for the perusal 🙂
Ohhhhh! I miss the beach!!!
I particularly like the sand there. Thank you 🙂
beautiful image…
Thank you 🙂
This is a beautiful horizon!
Thank you, the Rider. Regards, Michael
All are nice
Thank you, Swati 🙂
Excellent photographs, Michael, capturing the subject of ‘horizon’ so well. I particularly like the first one showing Tanjung Rhu Beach with the creamy-golden sand and the sea the colour of Paul Newman’s eyes. 🙂 Those two small islands are drawing me. I’d love to spend some perfect time alone on one of those … or perhaps have an adventure!
Quite true, the color of Paul Newman’s eyes – I like that. Glad that you like the image. Regards, Michael
Michael, you have done it again … fantastic photos … and fantastic horizons – could live with any of them *smile
Many thanks for your encouragement, Viveka!
Michael, always a pleasure.
Many thanks Viveka 🙂
Horizon makes one see another perspective. Awesome!
Horizon is one of my favorite photography subjects. Thanks & regards, Michael
i have enjoyed seeing such wonders in the creation in your photography. Real gems, many sparkling!
Many thanks for liking my photos!
All lovely shots. The city skyline appealed to me instantly and once I read its location I understood. I was born in San Diego but did not grow up there. Still California remains within my heart.
While there, apart from the beach, I was also fascinated by the Coronado hotel. Many thanks for reading my blog and for the comment 🙂
Wow these are just fabulous images Michael.
Many thanks Edith for liking the images 🙂
Like all the photos in this post! Color 😀
Glad that you like all the photos 🙂
So many lovely horizons here!
Glad that you like the horizons!
so refreshing 🙂
Thank you, Leanova 🙂
Such beauty!
Thank you navery101 🙂
I too am attracted by horizons. Pretty much everyday I go to the beach at the end of my road and gaze out towards the horizon….always different. … colours, clouds, swells and the knowledge that if I kept going Antartica would be there. Thanks for sharing : ) trees
Hi, it is great that you are in touch with the horizon and the beautiful things around it almost every day! Regards, Michael
You’ve certainly travelled to a lot a beautiful places. I like the Tallinn photo the best.
Hi Peter, so far, the responses usually said they like all pictures and some said they like the NYC image. You are the only one to indicate you like the Tallinn picture. I think it is of its own class in this set of photos and I love it too. Regards, Michael
I suppose I must be the only person who would think that a vacation in the Baltics would be fun!
You must have a different level of appreciation 🙂
You have captured the theme perfectly! Thanks Michael!
The pictures all bring peace to me, I wish I have some photos showing something interesting just above the horizon too. Thanks & regards, Michael
Beautiful!
Thank you, Nancy 🙂
Your photos show the beauty and peace of each location.
Many thanks 🙂
I love the pictures. This blog in particular has very inspiring pictures, I wish I can visit these places one day. Keep up the inspiration. 🙂
Hi, many thanks for the encouraging comment; hope you would drop by often. Thank you 🙂
Great pictures. It’s been a long time since I saw the New York City skyline — the best view we ever had of it was when I missed an exit to get to the Island and ended up on the freeway along the coast of New Jersey. I haven’t seen the Coronado beach horizon in a while either, but at least that’s only a short car ride away these days!
This is the part of NYC coast I like best. I have only been to Coronado beach only once – like the hotel there too! Thank you 🙂
I love the feeling of serenity generated by the first photo here. Beautiful! Thanks for visiting my blog and liking my “eerie” entry this week! Gail
Glad that you like it. I like taking pictures which give me a sense of tranquility. Regards, Michael
There are many of us who like that view of New York City. It appears to have been taken either from Ellis Island, where so many immigrants arrived in the U.S. for the first time, or Liberty Island, where the Statue of Liberty stands watch. Do you happen to recall where you were when you took this photo?
Hi Tom, glad to know that some folks do like it. I have been to both islands about a year after 911. If my memory is right, I may have taken this on Ellis island. Regards, Michael
Beautiful post. I love the very first image.
Hi, usually I put my favorite picture in the front! Thank you 🙂
