Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge this week is about Lines : http://www.ceephotography.com/2012/12/04/4320/#comments
My favourite picture on Lines was taken earlier this year while travelling in Switzerland. As someone who likes bridges of all kinds : suspension bridges, cable stayed bridges, simple beam slab bridges, arch bridges, suspended rope bridges, footbridges, medieval stone bridges to the very primitive form of simple stream crossing bridges.
This photo shows some vertical supporting members springing from the curved arch of a motorway bridge in Switzerland. The vertical supports with their strong vertical lines contrast sharply with the curve arch. The strong vertical lines also match nicely with the finer vertical lines from the guard rail and the vertical lines on the bridge parapets.
On a bright day, the bridge stands gracefully against a green background of trees, some high snow capped mountains further back and a blue sky dotted with clouds. Altogether, this gives the bridge a pleasing three-dimensional feel.
Beautiful photo…
Thank you bulldogsturf!
Beautiful
Thank you!
pretty on precision
Yes, so precise that it looks like an engineering perspective drawing!
We share your love of bridges and this one is beautiful.
In a sense, bridges connect or overcome obstacles, apart from their aesthetic value. I like following the animals too! Thanks for your comment, Michael
Wonderful lines on that bridge.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Thank you Francine!
Excellent!!
Thank you John!
that is a great image
Thank you JO!
Gorgeous photo and the lines are fabulous!!!
Thank you Cee!
I like patterns, especially when manmade patterns contrast with nature. Your bridge photo has great composition and color as well. Nicely done!
Yes, I also like elegant structures in a beautiful natural setting. Thank you Naomi!
This is a beautiful photo. And I admire the people who planned and worked in putting up this bridge. Not much lovely cemented works these days..
Yes, a lot of hard work has gone into this elegant structure. Glad that you this picture! Michael
very nice… good shot!
Thank you kodakmomentos!
Definitely, a pleasing three-dimensional feel 🙂 I took it beautifully, Michael 🙂
Thank you Paula. There are many posts in your blog which I like; but one thing I always like on your blog are your eyes on your header!
Can I ask you to correct my comment, PLEASE…. I meant to say “you” took it beautifully 😀 Thank you for liking my eyes. I have quite a few of nice headers but I decided to stay with this look well except for maybe occasional short-lasting changes 😉 Change I into you – please Michale 🙂
I guessed you mean “you”, thank you and have a great weekend!
You too Michael 🙂
Love the play of shapes and colours – takes my eyes on a gentle rollercoaster!
Glad you like the photo. Thank you EYHO!
Strengths and grace in one structure, one image. Nicely done.
Your kind comment is appreciated!
Wow, what an amazing structure. Did you drive across the bridge Michael?
No, we were on another cable stayed pedestrain footbridge overlooking the bridge. The cable stayed bridge also have very attractive vertical cables which I almost want to post it for the challenge. Regards, Michael
I’d be interested to see that too.
Will show it in another post!
I haven’t had the pleasure of traveling to as many locations as we hope to in the future, but we were lucky to visit Switzerland in 2008 and loved it so much. It seemed idyllic, small towns, beautiful lakes, lots of farms and forests. I’d live there in a heartbeat. I really loved you photo as it shows Switzerland to be full of nature with all the forest and mountains but very up to date with great roads and hi-ways too.
Hi Boomdeeadda, in my view, think those live in Switzerland are really blessed. They have got so many beautiful places, free from wars, great infrastruture and a high standard of living. What else can we ask? Of course, I wouldn’t like the snow and the cold in Winter. Regards, Michael
Love this one! Good response to the challenge Michael
Thank you Tina 🙂
