This is my entry for Sonel’s Black & White Weekly photo challenge.
Abstract is quite difficult to define. When I look up a dictionary, it explains as: “thought of apart from concrete realities, specific objects, or actual instances”.
I think we know what abstract is when we see one.
Hope the image below conveys what Abstract is about.
Picture taken in an art gallery of the 798 Arts area of Beijing, China (photography was allowed). The image is based on a painting by an anonymous artist but turned into Black and White to make it looks even more abstract. . . . . . . . .
This fantastic.., this is one of those pics which would look great in color too..
I think so too; but the challenge is to be in B&W; I will publish the color one a bit later. Thank you 🙂
thanks for the support and great photo.
You are welcome. Regards, Michael
A fabulous abstract indeed, Michael. 🙂
Thank you very much, John 🙂
I love this!
Thank you professor 🙂
Awesome!!!
Thank you 🙂
Wow! Stunning entry Michael and you were so blessed to be able to photograph this beautiful art! Thanks so much for your entry and for taking part. Much appreciated. 😀
Hi Sonel, the theme you set is a difficult one. Luckily, I find something fitting. Regards, Michael
I am glad to say that I am luckily not to blame for this theme Michael and don’t feel bad, even I struggled with this one. I am not reall an abstract kind of person or photographer. I find even 3D images uncomfortable. 😆
But you sure found a great entry. Thanks again. 😀
Hi, actually this is quite challenging and I enjoy that. Have a great weekend 🙂
Glad you did Michael. Same here. Have a great weekend too. 😀
Thank you 🙂
🙂 How fitting that definition of abstract is so abstract
Hi Suzanne, I think defining abstract is quite difficult, the definition ends up in defining what abstract is not! Regards, Michael
This is gorgeous and very inspirational.
many thanks Oloriel 🙂
Guau!!!! Preciosamente abstracto Michael….!!! Yo también quiero ver la versión en color…It is so full of tones and transparencies….
Muchas Gracias! Will upload the color version soon 🙂
Wonderful abstract capture
many thanks Touring NH 🙂
Now, this id different – a whole other entity.
Yes, very different. thank you 🙂
Wow! I see a horse rearing up and angry, I see a small man in robes, arms spread wide to an adoring crowd, I see . . incredible!
Wow! You can see so many things from the image! Have a great weekend 🙂
You have created a new Rorschach test with your photo, Michael. This is a beautiful piece of art and I love the care you always put into selecting the right picture for the themes.
Hi Opalla, you are right, this looks like a new Rorschah test! Whenever I find that I am not able to get hold of a photo that fits the theme, I rather decline to participate in the challenge. Thanks for the kind words 😉
Major love for this abstract….I can tell you put a lot of work into getting it right!
Hi, hope you will also like the color version which I will post shortly. Regards, Michael
Your photograph is beautiful. It is sometimes difficult to capture black & white photos correctly as the grey scale can be tricky. Good job!
It is very true that getting the grey scale right could be difficult. Thank you 🙂
Wow, love it!!
Thank you 🙂
A truly magical image, Michael. 🙂
Thank you; have a lovely weekend 🙂
This one is really amazing. I can’t wait to see the one in colour. 🙂
Hi, it is coming up in the next post. Thank you 🙂
Happy confluence of DNAs
Haha, thank you 🙂
Perspective is everything! It is what it is but at first I was looking at it as an ice cube in a glass, then smoke in the glass and now I have just accepted it for a very amazing abstract picked up by your photographers eye! Well done!
Many thanks for the comment. I will be posting the color version; will be interesting to see whether the image will appear different to you 🙂
I look forward to it. I wish I had even a smidgen of photographic talent, alas, I do not so I truly enjoy others views of the world in all it’s glory. Thank you for your beautiful photos.
Hi swedwnole13, many thanks for your continued support and comment. Thank you 🙂
It is fine!
Thank you 🙂
Lovely photograph, Michael!
I’ve just been nominated for two awards and I’m now I’m nominating you. (Sort of like a chain letter, but in a good way.)
http://iwork4ajerk.wordpress.com/2013/07/27/ive-been-awarded/
Hi Kate, thanks so much for the nominations which I understand are important awards. I have decided not to pursue or accept any nomination / award during my retirement and for this reason, I have already turned down all similar awards. Knowing that my blog is read in many places of the world (over 160 countries) is already my biggest reward. Thanks for enjoying my posts and thinking of me for the nominations. Regards, Michael
That’s fine, Michael. Just keep doing what you do so well.
Many thanks Kate! Regards, Michael
Excellent-I love this photograph. It really pulls you in to take in the the details and light.

Wow. I would hang this in my house. I look forward to seeing the color version.
Hi, the good news is that I’ll post the color version in my next post! Thank you 🙂
Not only does the black and white appeal to me, but also I’m impressed, Michael, by the picture’s movement from light to dark.
Haven’t heard from you for a while; welcome back! You have rightly pointed out, the transition from light to dark is also amazing. Please see the color version in my next post. have a great weekend 🙂
Love it!
Thank you naomimgruer 🙂

I can see them too. . . fascinating! Thank you 🙂
Always admiring your wonderful work!
Many thanks 🙂
Love this, Michael!! In line with this, I appreciate your liking my “Obscure” post. On to more of yours…
Hi Laurie, I love your Obscure. Thank you 🙂
Great photo and intriguing – I see a rose in the rain, but to each his own abstract thoughts!
There is also a color version that I have posted. Thank you for the comment 🙂
It certainly is abstract and it’s also peaceful and lovely! Celeste 🙂
Hope you also like the color version which was posted a couple of days later. Regards, Michael
