Hope my previous posts did not convey the impression that the fall foliage in South Korea are all red, orange and pink only.
In our trip, we did see a lot of fall foliage which are yellow or even golden in color.
Everywhere there are lots of Gingko and other trees which gave an impression of a Golden Autumn.
The following is a poem by a Chinese scholar, translated into English:
I like spring, but it is too young. I like summer, but it is too proud.
So I like best of all autumn, because its leaves are
a little yellow, its tones mellower, its colors richer, and it is tinged
a little with sorrow. Its golden richness speaks not
of the innocence of spring, nor of the power of summer, but
of the mellowness and kindly wisdom of approaching age.
It knows the limitations of life and is content.
Lin Yutang
I like Autumn and share the sentiment that – it knows the limitations of life and is content!
On a similar note, Yoko Ono did quote : Spring passes and one remembers one’s innocence. Summer passes and one remembers one’s exuberance. Autumn passes and one remembers one’s reverence. Winter passes and one remembers one’s perseverance.

South Korea appears to be rather spectacular in Autumn. So many beautiful photos Michael and such wonderful colours.
This is the first time I saw fall foliage in South Korea, it really was a joy to visit. Thank you 🙂
Lovely golden moments and thanks for sharing the translated poem.
My trip was full of yellow, gold, orange, red, pink and even green. That was quite wonderful. Thank you 🙂
The photos are stunning, but the quotes add such a poignancy to the season.
Glad that you like both the photos and the poems. Have a great day 🙂
I love the final quote by Yoko Ono…a recognition of the unique nature of each season. I also favor autumn… the hues, the fruit laden vegetation, the final sighs of the season. Love your thoughts and colorful images from Korea!

Lin Yutang speaks the words about Autumn I was unable to…
I think some of the sentiments in the poem may have been lost in translation, but still it is a beautiful poem. Thank you 🙂
Autumn can be such a mellow time and the poem by Lin Yutang is so beautiful. I love the colours of autumn, so reminiscent of life’s cycle. Captured beautifully by your eye and camera lens.
Yes, mellow is the word. Thanks for the kind comment :-0

The images remind me of Canada. What an evocative poem, too. So true.
Glad that it reminds you of Canada which must be very dear to you. Thanks for the comment 🙂
I love autumn too. Something we missed while living in Malaysia and Thailand. I love the smell. Nothing like the aroma of rotting leaves. 🙂
Hope that one day, computers can also transmit the “smell” recorded with the photos! I love Autumn very much too. Regards, Michael
My goodness, Micheal. You are fast. I barely had time to take a breath and your smiling face is already there. Thanks for being the first.
I love your golden fall photos. We mostly missed fall this year. We got some colors but mostly, we stayed green. It was 60 F today. We usually have a blanket of snow by now. So goes the weather.
Have a great day.
Phyllis
Hi Phyllis, I have just uploaded another post. On checking it, I discovered your post and I must say I like it. South Korea still has a lot of color foliage and where I am based (subtropics) it is mostly green. Have a great weekend 🙂

Amazing shots, congratulations!!!!!!!
Many thanks, gustavop 🙂
Michael,
Thanks for checking out our blog! Your photos of fall foliage in South Korea are very beautiful. We enjoyed similar sights there on our recent travels, but somehow forgot to take photos! Thank you for sharing, they prompted a pleasant trip down ‘memory lane’, warmly Heather and Ari- postcardsfromBeijing
Hi Heather and Ari, it’s good that they brought back good memories. We visited Beijing last fall and viewed fall foliage in several scenic locations; unfortunately, Beijing always seems to be covered in haze and the pictures are not as good. Regards, Michael
Wonderful hues !
Thank you 🙂
Have always wonder what is your icon / gravatar image. Thanks for liking / commenting on my posts 🙂

Your whole series of autumn colors was quite beautiful. The photos were very well composed, and the colors subtle and fascinating. Thanks.
Hi Frank, thanks for perusing the whole series – these were taken without any tripod and my only camera with a fixed 28mm lens. Regards, Michael
