This week’s photo challenge is One.
While strolling the courtyard of Angkor Wat, Cambodia, I couldn’t help taking a photo of this tree, with the boundary walls as background.
This is not the biggest tree I have ever seen; but the flowers on the tree are just beautiful!
Trees remind me of a poem I learned in school:
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.
~Joyce Kilmer, “Trees,” 1914
Originally, I was thinking of posting just one Tree photo, but the re-discovery of this childhood poem has urged me to show the One tree photos which I like. These include:
…………….. only God can make a tree!
