This week’s photo challenge is Monument.
The colossal monument at Abu Simbel is my pick.
No body has seen this monument like this before, as I have inadvertently turned the image left to right when I scanned my photo.
However, the image looks even more powerful!
How large are the statues?
A few storeys high! Regards, Michael
Very powerful, Michael.
Thank you!
Reblogged this on ugiridharaprasad.
Thanks for the reblogging!
IT is certainly a powerful image, whichever way around.
You are right. Regards, Michael
Photographer’s license is always a good thing. I think it does make the image more powerful. Great response to the challenge!
I am flattered by your comments. Thank you π
Great π
Regards, Michael π
Reblogged this on Egypt.
Thanks for reblogging this on!
I have a few pictures taken at Abu Simbal myself. One of the highlights (with a trip up the Nile) of our trip to Egypt.

Hope my image brings back fond memories of your trip. Regards, Michael
Superb shot ππ
Many thanks! Regards, Michael
I really like this perspective.
Thank you, Cate. Regards, Michael
It’s beautiful, and I do the same with my scanner. Easy to do.
The slides are so small that I couldn’t distinguish which side was the right way up and of course I was too lazy to rescan. Regards, Michael
Powerful
Thank you!
This is wonderful and such a joy to see places I will never get to go. Thank you x
Hi, you are welcome to travel with me vicariously to these places. Regards, Michael
Monuments to end all monuments, Michael …
Hi M-R, I still have other monuments to show! Regards, Michael
Looks much better this way!
Glad that you like it this way! Regards, Michael
Amazing creation of man π
The sculptures were transported and assembled together at Abu Simbel to avoid the flooding brought about by the construction of the Aswan dam, so it was a big engineering feat too!
If only these sculpture can talk? Great post.Jalal
Thank you Jalal. Regards, Michael
Inverted or not, these monuments are so beautiful and impressive!
Thank you for sharing such pictures!
Thank you for the kind words. Regards, Michael
Wonderful.
Thank you!
Not a mistake, Michael, but a view from a different perspective π
Quite true, Michael. Thank you π
You made my day with this…finally, somebody with knees fatter than mine!
Haha, I was shooting from below and up, the knees therefore appear fatter!
I want to go and see it one of these days! Who are the images of? I do not know my history of Egypt. Sometimes mistakes turn out okay in the end. Even unexpected ends!
All statues represent Ramesses II, seated on a throne and wearing the double crown of Upper and Lower Egypt.Regards, Michael
One of my bucket list places to visit, ever since National Geographic did a story about it a million years ago before they moved it. Wonderful photograph.
Hi, do you really mean a million years? Regards, Michael
You have been to some amazing places!
Would still like to go to other amazing places where I haven’t visited yet!
A regal view for sure!
Sure it is!
Thanks for your ‘like’ of Destination: Main Street Grille, Niantic Connecticut. Am looking forward to stopping back at your blog.
