This step pyramid constructed during the 27th century BC for the burial of Pharaoh Djoser is the oldest pyramid ever built in Egypt.
It was built in cut stone has a height of 197 feet and and has six benches.
It is amazing that the pyramid built about 4,700 years ago required 330,400 cubic metres of stone and clay. The knowledge gained from its construction lead to the development of the famous pyramids at Giza.
Perhaps, this is one of the oldest monuments in the world!
