Weekly Photo Challenge: Dreamy (Paradise at Jiuzhaigou)

<This contains 9 photos>

Any one of the photos here is an example of Dreamy – the theme for this week’s Daily Post photo challenge.065

All photos bring me back to a dreamy journey which has left an unforgettable mark in my memory.041

We stepped into this dreamy, fairyland when we finally arrived at Jiuzhaigou in China.052A

We were there in late September and were too early for the fall foliage – this is the only regret (we were a bit early and again, we missed an even more unbelievable view).056

The hills were still lush and green.071

Clouds or mist were hanging low, giving a dreamy impression.074

The blue colors on the water were almost surreal.090A

From where we stand, viewing over the water, there were layers of water with different colors.091

The water was so clear that you can see through to the bottom.092

There was not much life in the water which has a substantial content of calcium. In fact, it was so clear that you can see the bottom of the lake.

The other dreamy notion is the reflection in the water. The water is placid and the reflection is as clear as those from a mirror.

It is a land of water flow, where you find water everywhere.

It is a land of travertine,  where white deposits of calcium gathered around pools of clear water. From the photo, it looks more like snow to me. A winter world of snow.

We knew we were in paradise – a dreamy paradise!

This is almost the right time now for another visit to this dreamy land – all I need is to renew my visa and go!

  1. Beautiful, well-captured images! This is one of your best posts in my opinion, I like both that you have included multiple images and that you have written some extra information about the area rather than just describing the pictures. Good job!

    • I have several posts on Jiuzhaigou (eg. on waterfalls) in this blog. But as you said, this is my better post. Glad that you like it and thanks for your kind words!

  2. Michael these are utterly magical… A dear friend of mine lives in Chengdu and we always talk about visiting Jiuzhaigou when I finally have the time to visit. I don’t know when that will be, but in the meantime I can be happy just looking at your photos!
