Images from Angkor Wat (3)

<This post contains 2 photos> Here are two images which show trees growing close to stone structures in Angkor Wat.DSC_0183 Some of the trees are tilted and inclined at a considerable angle.DSC_0184 Understand trees like these will be removed for fear that they may topple and affect the integrity of the stone structures.

  1. It seems incredible that the trees have grown so large over the top of the stonework … and given the angles at which they lean, how are they still standing?! πŸ™‚ I can imagine if there is some restoration work in this part of the Wat, the trees will be removed.

I do find the relationship between our built environments and the natural world so interesting, especially as here, where the natural world has begun to reclaim an historical building.

    Fascinating photographs, Michael πŸ™‚
