This week’s Daily Press WPC Challenge is Fresh.
I know some people eat fish eyes.
However, I have never seen them being sold on markets.
Here is a photo taken in a fish market in Okinawa.
The fish eyes on sale are fresh; not only these but there are octopuses and other sea food too!
Oh wow.!! I’ve never seen them sold at a fish market either.!!
Neither have I, such large fish eyes cut out for sale!
The world is an amazing place.!
There are so many things happening under the sun!
Nice picture!
Thank you!
Wow, I have never seen that either! I wonder if they have a special way to cook it… π Thanks for sharig.
They may have. As kids, we sometimes ate the jelly part of the fish eyes of smaller fishes!
oh my.
haha!
I ate octopus once at a Greek restaurant in Chicago. It was excellent. I have not had a fish eye yet!
Octopus is not an uncommon dish in Japan! Don’t think fish eyes are served in Japanese restaurants though.
I have never eaten fish eyes and it kinda freaks me out !
Haha, they may be delicious!
π³ I’ll pass … Thank you
π
Igitt!
Thank you!
Nicely done, the only time I have seen seafood like that was many years ago on Canal Street in lower Manhattan. Good job!
I have never been to the seafood markets in NYC, I may try if I am passing through!
YIKES!!!
Nice pic though! π
Creepy as it may be, I am kinda curious as to what it tastes like…. π
Thank you for sharing! π
I have never tried those big eyes!
π Too creepy for your taste?
I have no idea – it could be tasty!
I guess nothing goes to waste then. π¦
Quite true π
I buy fish heads, in fact that’s what I had for dinner, but never just eyes. Never came across a recipe that requires fish eyes only.
Maybe the Japanese has a recipe for that, I will find out!
Thanks for dropping by my blog Michael, nice to see you again π Since you travel lots, any suggestions for where to go in May? π
Europe (especially Western and Sothern Europe) is warming up and May is a good time as there are no too many tourists yet. India is getting hot and rain could be starting in Sri Lanka.
Thanks Michael! I will do some exploring. Have you been to Majorca?
No, but according to friends it is usually sunny and suitable to younger people!
None for me, more for you!
I have never tried fish eyes these big, will try!
freaky!!
π
Why, oh, why would you eat a fish eye?!
Chinese believes eating a certain part will benefit that part of the body, this is likely to be untrue!
I am Japanese but I have not seen people eating fish eyes… It is maybe only in Okinawa. Okinawa has a a bit different their own culture…
I am sure that people living in Okinawa has a different eating habit. Some of us eat fish eye too, although not bought separately. Thanks for writing!
