The dragonflies are so delicate.
They have almost transparent wings and could stay almost stationary in the sky for so long as if they are weightless.
They are my favorite subject for capturing.
As a small boy, I like capturing them and put them in a jar too!
Good shot
Thank you!
It takes a lot of patience to get such clear photos of them, isn’t it Michael? Normally they’ll fly off just as you have them in focus.
Yes, lots of patients and only get them by luck!
I love dragonflies! ❤
Diana xo
They are lovely, Diana!
Good shot. I like dragon flies and fireflies as well. Can you snap a picture of firefly?
I have a post on firefly at night clinging onto tree twigs not far from my window. If you are interested, you can search for it.
Exquisite!
Thank you, Dina!
Apt subject
Hope all’s well with you!
Doing good…in Canada these days
Glad to know that you are doing well in Canada!
Gorgeous photographs. Weightless!
Thank you, Ruth!
Great minds think alike Michael! I too chose the dragonfly as my weight(less) subject!
Yes, they look so flimsy and even transparent!
What is the chinese character (and cantonese pronounciation) for dragonfly?
The two characters for dragon fly is 蜻蜓. It is pronounced as “ching ting” in Cantonese. You may note that for both characters, the left hand is the same- 虫
– which means insect.
Ok. A bit small for me no notice the left hand. Now I imagine ching and ting have their own separate meaning right?
I am not aware that they have separate meaning.
Dragonflies are amazing to me! They come in so many color variation and sizes. Great photo! ☺
Some of the small and slender ones are really difficult to photograph!
They have thousands of compound eyes too!
I know it well! ☺ It is like a hunting to get a nice shot.
True!
