There are many beautiful spots in Riga, Latvia.
Instead of visiting the more touristy areas, I love wandering the back alleys of this capital which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This is one of the best pictures I have taken in Riga.
I like how the light has penetrated the alley and to make this picture more perfect, there was a cat wandering in the alley too.
I have an almost exactly the same photo, but without the cat there.
To tell you the truth, this one is better.
That is a lovely photo – reminds me of Tallin
Yes, they are similar.
I love that the cat is the only one around. Beautiful picture!
I am happy to have it to grace my picture!
Indeed these old towns on the Baltic are delightful
I have quite a few of their pictures; maybe I would show some detail photos in due course.
The cat is such a wonderful surprise in this photo, Michael!
I know you like cats!
That cat is in the right spot for the composition too, nice one Michael
The other picture I have without the cat has lost a lot of interest!
Yes, you need the cat, or a person, to bring the image alive….
Exactly, Sue!
😀
The cat owns that street. Great photo.
Yes, the cat owns it!
Kitty Cat gives a sense of proportion. I like her there.
It’s great that I caught her there before she ran away!
great composition Micheal! I love the portrait orientation here which seem to have highlighted the height of building and the street!
My initial thought was to film the building and the alley; then the cat got into picture which was even better!
That’s great
🙂
In Chinese words, this cat has a 畫龍點睛 effect on your picture!
You said it so right in Chinese, it graced my photo!
Did you find Riga a nice place, comparing to other East European cities?
It has a different taste, say, when compared with Budapest and Prague. It is not that different from Tallinn, but both of them are lovely.
Lovely composition! The smallness of the cat (aw!) accentuates the height of the building and length of the street, so it definitely adds to the picture!
Yes, it gives a good contrast!
The cat fits in perfectly. 🙂
It has graced the picture!
Meow.
Haha!
Love seeing beautiful photos of my hometown! Hope you enjoyed your Latvian adventure in Riga.
I thoroughly enjoy my first visit to Riga, it is highly recommended!
The cat is definitely a lovely touch. Beautiful place!
It seems I do have a lot of cat lovers among my readers!
Great pics!I love Riga. It’s one of my favorite towns. Just a little correction – Riga is in Latvia and Vilnius is in Lithuania. Best, Nataly
Thanks for the correction, I always mixed them up.
I know. It’s very confusing. The names are so similar. It’s hard for us travelers 😦
Very true!
This is so beautiful and the cat just makes it complete. 🙂
It is Garfield or Felix the cat!
I think the cat is the alley monitor. He/she patrols to make sure that all is well. Wonderful textures in this photo.
Really lovely and picture perfect! Makes me want to visit!
Yes, definitely worth seeing in person!
