A Moonless Autumn Festival Night

I always remember the bright and full moon during the night of the Mid Autumn Festival.

When it is dark, children will get their lanterns out to play. It is a fantastic sight with so many lights of different colors and shapes brought together.

Families will gather together; some prefer outdoors and enjoy their favorite seasonal food and moon cakes.

The strongest typhoon this year Meranti has just passed us by, landed several hundred kilometers north of us in China.

Meanwhle there is another typhoon which is making a ninety degree turn to hit the southern part of Japan.

The air here is stagnant and stuffy. These typhoons have messed up the weather conditions here.

The sky was full of clouds when it was just getting dark. img_2314

I know the moon is not coming out tonight and write this post on a Mid Autumn Festival night.

Nevertheless, the sky was beautiful during the golden hour when I took this picture with a smartphone.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Edge ( between Lake and Mountain )

This week’s photo challenge theme is Edge.

Here are a couple of photos taken in Jiuzhaigou, China.017

It shows a distinctly divided edge between the lake and the mountains.

Just like the Pamakule in Turkey, these are pools containing high levels of dissolved calcium contained within naturally formed levees of deposited limestone.018

Unlike Pamakule, this is at a very high altitude where normal breathing could be a problem.
