I have been asked many times the question of “How difficult it is to climb HuaShan?”
I can assure you it is not a normal hike.
How difficult it is depends on how much you want to walk or hike.
You can take a cable car to the tallest Western Peak (2100 m above MSL ) and walk several hours up, in fact mainly down, to the lowest Northern Peak (1600m above MSL ).
This will take approximately 5 hours.
There are lazy ways of only taking a glimpse of the scared mountains, not actually walking much at all.
You can take the cable car up to the Western Peak, after a short walk, you return by the same cable car.
We covered four of the five peaks and didn’t do the Eastern Peak which people say is good for viewing sunrise – for this, you will need to stay up in the mountains the previous night.

One has to hike with both hands clinging onto the chains while the clouds float by.
This, however, is not the most difficult section of the climb.
When one is faced with an almost vertical climb, one can no longer spare the time to photograph, but to concentrate on the steps.
