Yes, the citadel in the Imperial City was badly damaged. Many of those destroyed may never be rebuilt again. We were there twice – once to look from the outside, the moat & buildings from a distance and the second day, actually walked inside for many hours.
War is a shame. A waste of all. And 50 years later Trump is going to meet Kim Jong Un in Vietnam? Seriously?
War is unnecessary and peace may only be an interlude between wars.
We didn’t go to any war museums in Vietnam; not really wanting to revive old ugly feelings.
They will meet in Hanoi. Two generations have passed; people in Vietnam are starting to forget the war!
Quite right. Peace may be only an interlude… 😦
Unfortunately so!
Hope trade wars etc are replacing real wars!
Love the patina
🙂
Hué must be impressive. Was it not severely damaged during the Vietnam war?
