The figurines, naga and other carvings are simply incredible! Is it ebony that the wood is so dark? Reply
Must be a type of hard wood like ebony or similar to be able to last so long in/ resistant to the elements. The lower part is brown.
Actually, I don’t know the name of the black temple; but my guide introduced me as a black temple because of its color – the black timber.

So there is a black and a white temple in Mandalay?
