Where was this taken, Michael? I can’t find any info about them. I did find a Spotted Lanternfly, but it doesn’t look at all like this. My friend said, God must have been on acid when she created this insect!
It was taken in our Wetland Park. These insects like lychee or longan trees; so look out for them there.
Another variety of them is considered a pest in the U.S. I wonder if these are as well? Too bad if they are as they are gorgeous.
Not mentioned in my book on local insects; will find out more.
Okay, a friend found it for me. So many different varieties of this insect but this one is the most beautiful. Was this taken in Thailand? The American variety is not as interesting looking.
Very nice. They are interesting bugs. Hard to imagine how they got their coloration.
More difficult to capture them with wings spread 🙂
Wow! Beautiful.
Thank you 🙂
OMG. I love it! What a beautiful piece of jewelry it would make. A replica, I mean–not the living insect.
Not sure why nobody has made it into a jewelry; good thinking 🙂

Ha! (regarding the Lantern Bug)
Interesting 🙂
And, wonderful photo as well.
Sure it requires a lot of patience.

No, it was taken in Hong Kong. Some of them are not as colorful!
What a surreal looking insect! I wonder why nature has provided it with these colors?
. . . . . . for people to admire ?
And admiring it they are!
Indeed 🙂
