Still, my camera somehow changes the light. I do have some good photos of the moon, but they tend to be bleached out.
You should do your light metering on the moon only. If you do an auto metering on the overall picture, it will overexpose the moon, I think 🙂
You are much more professional than I am, Michael. I no longer use my Canon camera with all the lenses. I just use my Apple Pro Max phone..

Touch the moon with a finger on your screen; this will meter the moon only.
See whether this works.
