Weekly Photo Challenge: Edge ( of Yangtze River 2 )
This is a sequel to my last post.
This photo is more stunning than the two I posted yesterday.
The steep cliff overlooking the Yangtze River is just striking. The river level was raised due to the impounding of water by the Three Gorges dam.
Just imagine what it was like when the river was a lot lower!
weekly Photo Challenge: Edge ( of the Yangtze River )
Not sure why the theme for this week’s Photo Challenge has not been announced.
I therefore stick to the theme for last week – Edge.
The Three Gorges situate in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River China,
Some of the best views can be seen cruising on this section of the Yangtze.
Some of Three Gorges’ view are  rated AAAAA!
Here are a couple of photos showing typical edges of the silt laden Yangtze River.
Many of these are steep sided gorges as evidenced in my photos.
Fantastic views!
The Three Gorges Picture
If I were to show one picture for my cruise down the Yangtze River on the Three Gorges section, this will be the picture.
The sun was setting and there were layers of the gorges of different shades of colour in front of me.
The breeze was gently caressing my face; if not for that, it didn’t occur to me that the place is real.
It is sort of picture that one can travel through.
Milford Sound vs Three Gorges
Here are two photos which talk to each other.
The top one was taken at Milford Sound in New Zealand, while the second one was taken in Three Gorges.
Both were taken on a boat.
They are very similar in composition but they convey very different moods.
The sea at Milford Sound was a bit choppy and the scene a bit dark.
I rather like the Three Gorges one which depicts sunset and calm waters.
