After mom’s passing, I can now move to anywhere I want. I still love HK and all siblings ( except Felix) and friends are in HK; the medical system here seems better too. So I will stay in HK and go to Chiang Mai as often as I like; it’s only 2+ hours of flight from here. π
That is a good idea. You can go on long week-ends. π
Sorry, the flight time should be more like 3 hours. Flying out during the weekends sometimes is more expensive. we will try to avoid that. Apart from Laos which we may still want to go, we may have exhausted the other more popular Asian destinations.
Well, “weekends” was a concept. The advantage of being a retiree is that you can take your week-end from Monday to Friday. Unless your wife works. π
Yes, she is retired too. Sometimes we book air tickets without having any idea of what the itinerary is going to be. This month, we will be going to Jeju island on an inexpensive Cathay Fanfare ticket π
That is very good. And adventurous. Well done.
I have developed cataract and it is affecting my daily life and photography; will get it removed after the Jeju trip. Regards, Michael
Don’t tell me! Cataract impresses me. I remember when my older brother had it, I was in shock. But it’s now very well under control. A simple operation and you’re as good as new. best of luck Michael.
I have booked for an operation on my left eye ( usually used for photography) by end of this month. Then I have to decide whether I have the same operation on the other eye. Hope all goes well π
I’m sure it will. Like I said, my older brother had his operation nearly a decade ago. And he’s fine.
I think it is quite a simple operation now. I should have done it earlier π
When the time comes is the right time.
Quite true, we don’t control the time π
Oh. Another thing: did you once tell me that in Chinese tradition butterflies are the spirits of the dearly departed that come and visit us? Ot am I confused?
Not sure whether this is only Chinese; there are many articles on this from various countries. Buddhism believes we will be reincarnated and depending on your good deeds in previous lives, you will start at different levels.
People seem to believe spirits can attach to insects; they are not actually the insects.
I wrote a blog article on my encounters with insects with after mom’s death. These encounters have now reduced; I only encounter one butterfly which flew straight at me.
Mom like these yellow orchids; I don’t know what they are called. In Chinese, they are butterfly orchids π
Yes, that’s the story I remembered about the butterfly flying straight at you. I’d never heard it before.
They are moths too staying outside my window or attach to my backpack on my first trip to HuaShan mountains and refused to go away! Some said they were stolen moments between mom and me π
A very pretty thought. π
Yes, dreamt of her too π
That happens. I still dream of my parents sometimes. Quite impressive how the mind recreates even the perfect voice…
I am not sure why in many of my dreams, my mom didn’t speak.
This looks incredible! π
Yeah, it is.
For the breakfast, the hotel allows you to order anything a la carte, this is already covered in the room rate!
Wow I need to go here ASAP!!
Yes, you will enjoy it π
Beautiful.
π
Well, it looks habitable to me!
One of the best I stayed in recent years π
Very good!
π
Well why donβt you? Move to Chiang Mai. Cost of living must be very affordable compared to HK. π

Can’t control dreams. One night she might.
There are dreams that she actually talksπ
There you are. π
