Many visitors to Hong Kong find this temple awesome.
The temple houses over 10,000 Buddha statues, all dissimilar in appearance.
However, as photography in the temple is not allowed, the ten thousand Buddhas are rarely shown on pictures.
To reach the temple, one has to walk 430 steps. Along the way, you see some 500 Luohans or Arhats.
Here is a picture of the Luohans or Arhats, all plated in gold colors, with different expressions.
The picture was taken by my brother based in the States and who is right now in Hong Kong.
Great pic. I love the 1000 Budhas in Kyoto Japan at Sanjusangendo temple. No pics allowed there either but one of my faves.
Will try to visit Sanjusangendo, now that you mention it.
I bet it was overwhelming. I can almost feel the lump in my throat forming as I look at the beginning of the line.of Buddhas. I felt that way at the Vatican.
Hi, will show some more photos of the Luohans.
Great! 🙂
🙂
Beautiful
Thank you!
Oh how wonderful. I am sorry to have missed that on my visit last year. We travelled out to see big Buddha but I’m assuming those are on the peak??
The 10,000 Buddhas are in Shatin, New Terriorities.
Ah, that explains it- didn’t think I could have missed that I n HK itself. Maybe next time….
