Climbing up the mountains of Zhangjiajie is a challenge.
When morning has broken, we were happy to have a blissful view through the gap between the canyons in Zhangjiajie, China.
We were at a lost as to how this slender tree can grow so near to the edge of the cliff and how on earth was the gap formed. Anyway, we had a peaceful feeling. . . . . . . . . .
That is amazing how such a large tree can root itself so close to the edge of a cliff….
The tree was a main reason for my taking of the photo. It looks quite amazing. Thank you 🙂
Michael, what a stunning shot and so reminiscent of those beautiful Chinese silk scrolls.

Yes. my first thought was that it looks like a Chinese landscape painting. Have a great weekend!
Very ethereal Michael – well done!
Hi Tina, many thanks for the comment and have a lovely weekend 🙂
Love this! Reminds me of the American TV program “Lost,” for some reason…makes me want to be there.
Thank you for the comment; have a lovely weekend 🙂
That is so very beautiful. The ways of nature are mysterious and often leave us in wonderment. So it must be with the tall slender tree.
Yes, we are always bewildered by the work of nature. Thank you 🙂
Good photo, Michael. Did you go to Zhangjiajie recently? That’s another place in China I really want to go to.
Hi hcyip, I went there a few years ago; it was a very interesting trip. Thank you 🙂
Stunning image! Beautiful!

Looks good in sepia!

Thank you Viveka 🙂
A very dramatic photo.
Thank you Ron, have a great weekend 🙂
Spectacular! I feel foolish for always forgetting what spectacular landscapes are in China (and how huge the country is) but this photo is a breathtaking reminder 🙂
There is quite a diversity of landscape in the country. Glad this photo has reminded you. Have a great week 🙂
Awesome photo!
Thank you, Professor 🙂
We visited Zhangjiajie a few years ago when we visited my husband’s family and it was stunnng, the landscape was so different than any place that I’ve been to. That was before I got my DSLR so I have see if I can find some photos from my point and shoot. Very lovely picture.
I am sure that your snap shots could also be every beautiful. I no longer have any DSLR. Have a great week 🙂
I’m wondering what you use to take these photos other than a DSLR?
Hi, I don’t have any other thing with me other than the DSLR, not even a tripod or a lens hood. Thanks for asking 🙂
The avatar mountain is splendid.
Thank you for liking the photo. Have a great week 🙂
Dramatic Photo. Like it. Did you alter the colour to sepia or was that the natural light?
Hi, the picture was taken against light so it was like a B&W with trees/ hills silhouetted against the sky. I changed it to B&W and increased the color of the background. Have a great week 🙂
Thank you for following my blog and liking my posts. I am fortunate to discover such a beautiful blog. The photo is awesome and nature looks at its best- so peaceful and calm. Thanks for sharing such a lovely post with us.
Hi, thank you for the kind words. I am happy to discover your blog too. Have a great week 🙂
Absolutely wonderful image! Love the tones and processing.
Glad that you like the image. Have a great week 🙂
great shot Michael! The tree looks like an old school TV antenna.
Hi Raunak, now you have said it, it really looks like an antenna to me. Haven’t heard from you for a while, hope all’s well! Have a great week 🙂
Stunning view!
Thank you Tincan Traveller 🙂
Michael, it may have been a challenge to climb to this destination, but the view is well worth it. There’s a lot of power in this shot. Congratulations! And, thanks for the view. Probably would make a terrific B&W also. Best, Harold and my sidekick SLR Nikon. http://www.throughharoldslens.com
Hi Harold, I have converted to B&W, but it looks more or less the same. Love your images of Africa landscape / people/ culture. Have a great week 🙂
You must have connection with the most creative muse of imagery. The image is, I cannot imagine from where you are to find this one. Jk 🙂
Hi, the picture was taken while we were hiking up. we were at the base of the mountains with gaps. Many thanks for your “likes” on many of my blog. Regards, Michael
This photo is so surreal. This is as close to God as we will ever get while on earth. What an awesome journey you had!
I think the more you travel, the more you appreciate the wonders of nature and the creator. Thanks very much for the kind words 🙂
I can see why these hills have served as the inspiration to so many classic paintings. Beautiful!
Yes, this scene is typical of Chinese landscape painting. Thank you for the kind words 🙂
Breathtaking photo. Makes me want to climb inside and write 🙂
It will be a lovely/ inspirational spot for writing. Thank you 🙂
Stunning, Michael – it reminds me a lot of the Oregon/Northern California coast. Really like this one!
Glad that you like this one. Cheers! Michael
